Artwork description:
In the process of creating ‘Wildflower’, Patricia Thebez built up a routine of actively spending time outdoors and playing. This series of paintings is a conscious documentation of the artist’s attempt to change her patterns and break free. Patricia was diagnosed with bipolar disorder 10 years ago and has always turned to mark-making to express what words cannot.


The colours in her work are representative of her moods at the time of painting - blue and black is almost always used for melancholy, while red to Patricia signifies life. A fluorescent pink that appears most prominently in the ‘Wildflower’ series signals growth. As the artist almost always paints with music, a specially designed soundscape accompanies the show.
